01 Mar Newsletter (Sathorn) 1st Mar 2019
Dear Hampton Families,
Books, books …. and more books!
Hampton is bursting at the seams with Book Week fun!
Upon returning to school from the half-term break, each class has begun a two-week-long investigation into a chosen class favourite book.
The Nursery 1 Daisy Class has been learning all about animals through the story ‘Dear Zoo’.
They even received a special delivery to the classroom; mysterious packages with animals inside.
The children had to feel and guess what animal it was!
Next door in the Nursery 2 Maple Class the children are going on a “wet and wild” adventure with Elmer the Elephant through their story ‘Elmer and the Flood’.
Through this story, the children have pracised colours, numbers and problem-solving techniques!
The Maple Classroom is very colourful now due to the children’s brilliant imaginations and creativity – after all, Elmer is the patchwork elephant!
Upstairs in the Kindergarten 1 Palm Class the children were all greeted with a special “golden ticket” to enter their classroom on Monday as it has been transformed into the factory from the famous story ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.
The Palms have role-played as friendly shopkeepers, designed their own sweet treats and even made a drinkable chocolate river!
Next door to them, the Kindergarten 2 Oaks are so clever that they are only getting “snip-its” of their story each day and are predicting what may happen next!
Their story is the ‘Wizard of Oz’ and they have thoroughly enjoyed building each of the characters in a special way – the tin man required lots of creative effort!
It is outstanding to walk throughout the school as there is so much happening around each corner!
We have been so fortunate to have a few special parent volunteers who have come into their child’s class to read a story!
Thank you very much for your time and effort; the children have enjoyed these moments immensely.
Next week brings continued Book Week exploration which we will celebrate as a whole-school on Friday 8th March with a children only assembly complete with a Hampton Staff performance.
We can’t wait to see the children dressed as a book character!
Also in celebration of Book Week, please stop by our school on Monday 4th March for Book 53’s book sale!
You are welcome to come at any time from 8:00am-3:00pm to browse all their wonderful books.
As we welcome the month of March, we are pleased to announce our plans for the 2019/2020 academic year.
Today, Friday 1st March, you received a ‘Confirmation of Attendance’ form in your child’s schoolbag which we would greatly appreciate if you could fill it out and return to the school office.
This information aids greatly in our preparation for the upcoming academic year.
We are thrilled to be opening our Year 1 Redwood Class for the 2019/2020 school year and have a few other surprises which will be added to the children’s weekly timetable – stay tuned!
Here’s the 2019/2020 calendar which I hope assists you in your family plans for 2019/2020.
We have quite the busy month ahead, but we look forward to seeing you at the school to celebrate all the learning and growing that the children have done and will continue to do.
Please sign-up for a Parent Teacher Conference timeslot with your child’s class teacher starting on Monday 4th March as conferences will take place the week of 11-15th March.
During this time you will speak with your child’s class teacher about your child’s development since the start of the school, as well as see photographic evidence of their learning.
Please do bring any questions or comments along with you as it is a great opportunity to have a wonderful chat about your child.
Parking will be available at ‘Just One’ restaurant all week long.
School Picture Day for Term 2 will be held on Thursday 14th March!
Children are to wear their blue school uniforms on this day!
If you wish to take family photos, please call the school office to arrange an appointment as space/time is limited.
I thank you for your patience as we finalised our rescheduled Sports Day.
We look forward to seeing you in yellow, blue, red or orange on Wednesday 20th March at Polo Football Park from 9:00-10:00am.
Go Hampton Go!
March is surely looking to be a spectacular and fast month!
As always, we thank you for all your support!
Wishing you a lovely weekend,
Ms. Erin Burney
Head of School
